Notre Dame Parish is a Catholic Parish in Cresco, Iowa. It was formed from two existing parishes, Assumption and St. Joseph, in 1999. In 2007, the parish moved to one site. Notre Dame also runs a school that has students from preschool through sixth grade. The history of St. Joseph’s and Assumption goes back to the 1850’s, but our new parish, Notre Dame, is young. We have been greatly blessed by the gifts our parish community continues to share.

“The date that was chosen is symbolic. This will be the feast of the dedication of the cathedral, that is, the consecration of the altar. It is very important to be able to make the world aware that the role of the cathedral is to show the glory of God. Celebrating the Eucharist on that day, even in very small groups, will be the sign of this glory and grace.”
While many people go to Mass every week, few people know what it is to worship. We show up and do our best to “pay attention," but for too many of us, this just means we watch closely. You have been given a gift that you have most likely left unused. This gift is unused because it is largely unknown. This presentation will uncover this unknown and unused gift so that you can stop watching the Mass and start worshipping at Mass. Fr. Michael Schmitz is the director of youth and young adult ministry for the Diocese of Duluth and chaplain for the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He provides podcasts of his weekly homilies on iTunes and BulldogCatholic.org.

On Nov 18th, World Day of the Poor, we had a student speak at the 8AM and 10AM Mass about their experience at the 30 Hour Famine. Shown is Rylee Kapler who spoke at the 10AM Mass. During the Famine, students heard from Mary Larson and her experience of sponsoring a child for 5 years through Compassion International and meeting that child a couple months ago. Compassion International is sponsoring a Christmas event in Rochester on Sunday featuring Natalie Grant and Danny Gokey. Contact Mary Larson for more details and transportation.
